The most popular legend of Oak Island maintains that in the year 1795, Donald Daniel McGinnis discovered a mysterious depression in the ground beneath an oak tree, from which hung a ship’s block. McGinnis and two companions began to dig in hopes of unearthing buried treasure. And thus, began one of the most intriguing and enduring treasure hunts that the world has ever seen. Today Oak Island is privately owned and strictly off-limits to the public. But the treasure hunting continues to this day.
Bro. Kelly W. Hancock, a direct descendant of McGinnis, is pleased to announce that through an arrangement with the Friends of Oak Island Tourism Society and the Michigan Group, an exclusive guided “Mystery Tour” has been arranged for Nova Scotia Freemasons, DeMolays and their guests, at no charge. Come join us for a day of mystery and intrigue as we explore the island and legends of pirate gold, the mysterious “money pit”, and historical connections with The Craft in Nova Scotia and beyond!
FREE TOUR- however “the hat” will be passed and brethren are encouraged to make a fair and generous donation to the Friends of Oak Island Tourism Society in appreciation of this unique opportunity.

AMPLE PARKING

It should be noted that this is a WALKING TOUR and takes an hour or more.
Unfortunately due to the terrain and trail conditions on the island the tour is not wheelchair accessible.

TOUR TIME: 10am- 12:00pm

Directions: Hwy 3 to Western Shore. Turn onto Crandall Point Road and proceed to causeway. There will be a guide at the causeway to direct you to parking area.

Brethren are asked to please RSVP to contact below before 30 June 2011 to give me an idea of the number of people interested (although it is not strictly required). E-mail confirmation preferred.
