OITS is closed

Postby Jo on Mon Dec 07, 2009 7:17 pm

So the news just in is that the Oak Island Tourism Society has officially closed. (Thanks Rick for the live updates.)

This news has created some very mixed responses. Some feel let down and hurt, others feel it is time for the OITS to move aside and let others have a try.

What happens next? I don't think this needs to mean the end, rather the start of a new chapter. I know for certain that interest in Oak Island is high (I have over 2000 active fans worldwide on my books) so there is no need to let this die.

Thank god that chapter is now over, and that we will no longer have to hear the whining of the OITS non-member malcontents. Should those individuals want to start their own version of the OITS, I sincerely wish them well. And, as I've said before, I will be happy to join and support them as soon as they propose a clear vision and mission statement of what they intend to do, and that they have a board of directors who are as dedicated and hard-working as was the OITS executive over these past eight years.

Wow, that is sad. But change is good!
I wonder what will become of EOID's that so Many of us enjoyed?

Hi Rick,

Yup, I guess I'll do that.
Can you give us details about the meeting?

Hi Brent - crikey! I've not heard from you in a while. How are things?

I for one would be keen to get together with everyone in the summer, like an Oak Island reunion of sorts. It would be a great opportunity to get everyone together, catch up on news and share ideas on where we would like to see Oak Island tourism going in the future. As you say, change can be good, and I think it's important to focus on this as an opportunity, rather than the administrative nitty gritty of a past Society.

D'Arcy,

The last directors of the OITS are quitters and can now be identified as failing a society and membership in spite of no other Oak Island tourism competition. Even the final act could not be done in a clear and transparent manor.

So are you saying that if new folks work to a degree of what you think to be 'just as hard', you just might reward them with your membership? First you go pretty cheap, and secondly, why in the world would you think that to be a good deal for them?
The post Revolutionary history of Oak Island is a complex web of lies and partial truths to sort through.
