In Nova Scotia, we have gas price regulation put in place by the government which sets the maximum price. This is done each Friday morning at 00:01 hrs and is in effect for the next 7 days.
Currently we are paying $101.9/liter which is up about $0.15 cents over the past three months.
1 US Gal = 3.785 liters
This works out to be $3.86 Can /US Gallon; however, if you are an American and buying gas in Canada with US funds, the American would spend (based on today’s exchange rate) of each US dollar being worth $1.1201 Canadian, a total of $3.19 US per US gallon in Canada.
1 imperial (UK) Gallon is 4.54609 liters which works out to be $4.63/ UK Gallon in Canada; however, for the UK citizen buying one UK gallon of petrol in Canada with Pounds, would cost $2.60 Pounds.
The above exchange rates are as of today, and which we know are the money market exchange rates, not the rates available to the traveler.
The real kicker is for Canada to be the largest supplier of oil to the US market, and even after shipping cost, they are able to sell it cheaper in the US than we do here in Canada...just to show you how much freaking taxes we pay.
