It's plaque is written in latin, so i didn't get much out of that, at least; the bad image of it that i've seen shows that there are no obvious irregularities, although i'm far from certain. Can't find much on the net, apart from some
I have a few things to say, not so much on the subject of the cipher, rather my geographical location. I wanted to mention that I have been to see Bacon's "tomb" in St Michael's church near my home town in St Albans. The inscription is enigmatic to say the least and is one of those things which, the more you look into, the more questions it raises.
If anyone would like me to, I would be happy to go to the church and take some better photographs over Christmas, if you would be interested?
By coincidence, I now live in Highgate Village where Bacon was rumoured to spend his final days before he died of pneumonia. However, there is much conjecture surrounding this, and whether he actually escaped to the docks to begin a life in the New World, according to the Bacon Society.
What I find especially interesting are the street names in and around the Heath area, such as Rosslyn Hill. No connection I'm sure, but it always makes me smile
I love the works of Bacon, and this history, not least because he grew up where I did. He's a fascinating character I never tire of reading about.
